MODERN RELIGIOUS ART EXHIBIT

During the last six months the New York Federation  of Churches has sponsored the exhibition of a rather striking picture of Christ, painted by a New York artist.  It is a departure from the traditional pictures of Christ in that the artist portrays Him as a man of considerable physical strengths and virility.  It is an example of the modern trend in religious art.  This picture was exhibited in prominent churches in various parts of the metropolitan area and attracted large numbers of people.

Now we are to have a similar exhibit of modern religious art at St. Peter’s.  The picture will be The Last Supper, portraying the moment of intense agitation and excitement when the Savior told the disciples that one of them would betray Him.  This painting is done in a distinctively modernistic style and is a unique and interesting example of the departure from the traditional.  It was done by a talented young Chinese American who has studied in America and Europe and has developed a distinctive technique.

We have secured the privilege of exhibiting this picture to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 20th, 21st and 22nd, from 2 to 5 P.M. afternoons and from 7 to 9 P.M. evenings.  You and your friends are invited to view this painting on the above-mentioned days.
